Englewood Christian Church actually achieved the Creation Care Partners energy conservation goals several years ago. It reduced its electricity use by 27% and its natural gas use by 61% primarily by: programming its thermostats at 88 in the summer and 55 in the winter in parts of the building that are vacant, spending a little extra to install some high-efficiency HVAC equipment when some existing equipment had failed, and installing occupancy sensors in its bathrooms and kitchen. At least a third of its households have reduced their energy use by 14% or more; a number have cut by 40%. Read more about how they did it here.
